鹿島臨海工業地帯（コンビナート）、風車

神栖市の北東部一帯には鹿島港および鹿島臨海工業地帯が整備され、製造品出荷額は茨城県内1位の国内屈指の工業地帯となっている。また臨海工業地帯から南に延びる海沿いには40基以上の大型風力発電施設（風車）が立ち並び、観光スポットやドラマや映画のロケ地になっている。
